This individual looks a bit strange since it is a sub-adult (intermediate between immature and adult). The yellow eye-ring clearly visible in image 2 is a key defining feature of this species. Well done on capturing this. It is also somewhat unusual time for a cuckoo sighting as most have left the ACT area for winter now (although still a few Koel fledglings around).
