John This is a species of Prasophyllum or as they have more recently been renamed Paraprasophyllum. I am currently seek expert advice regarding the exact species. I am hoping for a conclusive answer shortly. It is one of a group of similar looking orchids currently flowering in the area. The 2 main candidates are both said to have the lateral sepals fused but the second upper most flower clearly has free lateral sepals. While this is possibly not conclusive it does make things harder. Derek
Derek, I think I saw a comment from Tobias somewhere that P. viriosum can sometimes have unfused lateral sepals. I believe one of the plants I photographed the other week had unfused lateral sepals on some of the flowers.
Matt, yes I agree they can be fused or free and some of my photos also show that. I have sent a number of my photos to Mark (and Tobias) and am awaiting a confirmation.
