User's notes

Male and female juvenile Gang-gangs with both parents (adult female photo 5). Chewing bark in liquidambar, briefly chewing each other (photo 3), male begged for a while but adults did not feed him.

The common name of Liquidamber is sweet gum which relates to its sweet brown sap that oozes when bark is bitten into. It is a traditional remedy for coughs, skin complaints and ulcers. A chemical derived from the sap (storax) is used as a antimicrobial agent and works on golden staph. So maybe these Gang gangs are onto something
