Its a small oecophorid, perhaps Oenochroa

I'm suggesting Blastobasis genus based on the similarity of this moth with the LHS photo on page 83 of 'A Guide to Australian Moths' ( Zborowski and Edwards, CSIRO 1970). The clear view of the palpi fit well the decription said to apply to the Blastobasidae family: 'palpi upturned, sickle shaped, sharp pointed'.

I think the "mottling" of the scaling isn't right for Blastobasidae and the forewing apex is too pointed. The quote from E&Z while true of Blastbasidae would apply to many other Gelechioidea (including Oenochroa). I'll look through the latter. Is there a hint of an orange hindwing?

Second image apex not so pointed, I agree main black mark slightly different shape than the E&Z photo. Can't say about the hindwing. Katerina do you have any other photos?

No photos that show another angle. The ones I have are identical to these ones. Sorry.

I just found another lot of photos from later in the night. Probably the same moth. See sightinmg 4370984.

Did you notice if it had an orange hindwing. Regarding Blastbasidae, I've suggestedsome of the moths in there are Balstobasidae (including some of yours if I remember rightly).

I liked the pale grey scales on the sides of the thorax for Oenochroa dinosema.

It's like Oenochroa lactella, but more like an undescribed species (Oenochroa sp. ANIC13 on BOLD), both of which have been recorded in or nearby ACT. There are probably other Oenochroa prospects, especially if we could see the hindwing clearly. I'm thinking the hindwing is orange. There is another similar undescribed species that has been recorded often in the ACT as well as more widely in the south-east, but the match is not as good. It isn't on BOLD.
