While I agree its probably not Faveria, the examples of H. bifractellus i can see on the ALA seem to have striated or dotted antennae along their length which doesn't seem to match this specimen.

Yes: true. Does that rule out Pyraloidea?

I do not see the sickle-shaped upturned palps of Thema here.

foreshortened or blurred?
Anyway: your turn.

I have'nt got a better suggestion, but all the T. protogamma specimens on the ALA all have very dark furry palpi and a prominent vertical component which is black and the base with white tips

Yes they would show on the oblique angle photo #1, and be silhouetted against the paler stone.
That rules out Gelechioidea.
Hypeninae eg Britha, Rhynchodontodes?

Yes , I think some fine detail does align with P. microphaeelus.

I don't think the palps are hairy enough for P. microphaeelus, and the white streak does not continue to the margin, but stops at a dark spot in the cell. None of the P. microphaeelus specimens on BOLD show this feature.

Yes, thank you Don, I was on the right track but stopped short of the target. It's Tawhitia pentadactylus.
