This is a problematic weed which spreads quickly. It shows signs of being very invasive and needs to be eradicated or controlled.

In Rob Roy Reserve, along the steep uphill fire trail to the east of Banks, and near the water tank.

I found a dense patch of these weeds perhaps 50 or more. It is hard to say how many because it was getting dark and I didn't walk up the hill to see how far up they extended. They are tough dried plants standing erect with hundreds or thousands of seeds intact on the dry branches.
They are apparent survivors from the population that was found nearby and removed in 2015.
They can easily be found, just inside the gate to Rob Roy Reserve, growing along edges of the fire trail which rises steeply up the hill. The population extends up the hill for some distance, but I don't know how far. Many of them are in the gutters on the left side as you look up the hill.
There are far too many for me to deal with. The largest patch near the gate had plants up to 1 metre high with a dense covering of seeds.
