RNW recorded over a number of years and quite a few times now in Isaacs Ridge, so established. Populations appear to be limited mainly by fox predation and are higher wherever regular baiting occurs. Yet the species is slowly making its way back into (unbaited) Canberra Nature Park units (but as yet no RNW records in Wanniassa, Callum Brae, Mugga, Black Mt). So has the power of fox predation over this species been reduced somehow across the landscape?

There are foxes on Isaacs Ridge.

Nowhere is without them. Even the Nass Valley (which is thick with RNW) has just a few. But the level of population pressure they apply is a different question. Abundance (hard to quantify for foxes) is important but in any case, predation is not linear with abundance. For example some individuals or groups of predators may specialise on particular prey, skewing abundance effects.

I have seen Red-necked Wallabies on Wanniassa Hills a few times. Only one or 2 in a fairly rugged and difficult to access area, in the eastern portion on the western slope between Karalika FT and Bugden Av
