I presume you could not see the base of the plant. Centaurium erythraea retains the basal rosette of leaves at flowering. Tenuiflorum has no basal rosette of leaves at flowering time.

Sorry, I did have a photo of the base of the plant but lost the photo. the plant did have a row of leaves at the base. Next time I will be more careful with the photos.

Went back to the site today and there were still a handful of plants flowering, and can confirm the above comment.
