Very interesting. I've been monitoring their numbers and movements for a few years now. This site in Hume is used as an overnight roost in Summer, while in Winter they roost in Fadden and/or Lake Tuggeranong. Currently about 590 on that flight path. During the day, they spend most of the time at Mugga Lane Tip. It's interesting to know that the birds are using Hume in the day in Winter as well, not something I had come across before.
They have been using this area in these photos for the past few weeks, have noticed them each time we drive past and couldn't pass by another time without taking a photo. When I first looked could only see about 10 birds in the long grass and around the dam, something scared them and many went onto the dead trees around and a number also flew off so it was only then that I saw how many there were as most were hiding in the long grass.
