Although common in coastal and sub-coastal environments, this species is rare in the ACT, probably as a dispersing vagrant. This is the first known record of it in the ACT.

Good find, Harvey. Are there any other possible dragonfly/damselfly vagrants for the ACT that one could find?

Good question - to which the answer is ' probably, yes'. But I don't know which they might be. As you know, I've had to come up with the current list myself based on the national field guide, ALA, and my own sightings.

Well, with more people having an interest in CNM and photographing insects like these, there is more chance now of discovering vagrants. Whenever I see a dragonfly or damselfly I'm trying to get a photo, that's for sure.
