Alison, the head and bill shape do not suggest a Jacky Winter. The scalloping on the wing coverts gives the bird away as a Rufous Songlark. The black bill indicates a male Interesting that they were busy calling at the start of the breeding season then very quiet and have now started to sing again. The coming of a second spring! Chris

Thanks Chris. I thought it was a Songlark but the lady leading the bird photography trip told us it was a Jacky Winter. I should have trusted my instincts.
