On balance, I think this is monticola rather than gunnianum, though it does not have all the disgnostics mentioned in the Vicflora key.

Hi folks, the distinction is tricky but after a lot of agonising I think monticola is the alpine form of what was called Helichrysum scorpioides, which is a compact plant and very silvery hairy. This lankier, greener thing that grows usually in wet areas, mostly high elevation swamp/forest margins, is gunnianum. I'm not getting the location map, but the Hydrocotyle in the background suggests this is in a wet area.

Thanks Jackie. You would know better than any of us here in Canberra.

Now, I'm seeing the map. So, not even at high elevation in this case, therefore definitely gunnianum. It is supposed to be riparian at lower elevations, but I've only ever seen it around the escarpment swamps down here. Up around Oberon, which is about 2000m elevation I think, it was widely scattered thru wetter dalrympleana-pauciflora-stellulata forest too, not just on swamp edges. I've had a good bit of to and fro with NW about it, as the Oberon thing doesn't fit into either gunnianum or monticola or scorpioides all that well, but I think his gunnianum description is probably just based on too few specimens.
