These things are difficult, I'm not sure how well your plant fits some of the characters listed in PlantNET. From PlantNET: - Culms 55–170 cm long,.....Widespread in damp and swampy situations.
Hi Silke, Flora of Victoria has 'Culms erect, dull green or bluish-green, 70–180 cm high ...A common species (particularly east of Melbourne) occurring on sites which are inundated or saturated for a considerable period.' The author for this section of the Vic. Flora was Dave Albrecht so it seems you have an opportunity to make some use of some now local expertise with this group.
Thanks Ken, I'm realising that this is a little out of my league. I'm a bit confused now what culms are. I thought they are the stems the flowers sit on, but obviously not. I think I'll leave the ID to someone who is better suited than me.
Dave Albrecht of the Herbarium said,"For positive ID of Juncus, photographed specimens should be in fruit and one should be able to see the stem striations. As the image lacks both I can't be confident with the ID. The flowers appear to be well-spaced and the anthers large, which would rule out Juncus sarophorus. Given the location I suspect it is most likely to be Juncus remotiflorus or possibly J.subsecundus."
