This is a disjunct location for Eastern Cottonbush which is common in western NSW. It has only been recorded once before in the ACT, by Max Gray in 1980 who recorded the plant on the rocky slopes near Newline Quarry. That location is opposite this Beard location. This remnant Yellow Box woodland used to be part of the abattoir holding paddocks so it is possible that it was introduced by stock from further west. However, their are several disjunct western species in this section of the Molonglo including Atriplex semibaccata which was also found at this location, while Max Gray also recorded this plant on the other side of the Molonglo.
