User's notes

Growing on dead bark on two separate pieces of wood. Colonies on each piece all seemed to be merging together.

Reliable identification of a fungus that produces flat, sheet-like fruit bodies often requires examination of a specimen. These fungi have little in the way of macroscopic features but show great variation microscopically. My identification of this sighting as Peniophora incarnata is highly plausible (given the colours, extent of growth and the close up view of the surface) but there is still a small chance that I could be wrong.

Thanks Heino, your identification does indeed look like what it is. It had me stumped!
