Hi Con, thanks for explaining your rationale for your interest in these moths. As a sugestion, how would it be to post one of each that you find in each location on a monthy basis. You could keep a tally for each month and put it in the "how many" box and then put some text for any elaboration in the User Comments section. Regards Dianne

Hi Diane, thanks for this signal.
I have been thinking about this issue for quite a while. It is all work load issue. A further consideration is that the two of the areas in Dryandra Street Woodland (DSW) where, for example, Scopula rubraria is found now are changing rapidly as shrubs take over the grass layer. It seems strange but on current trends it is very likely that S. rubraria will one day be very rare on DSW. Similarly, the areas where the three are most likely to be found in Mundoonen Nature Reserve are also being taken over by shrubs. In fifty years the three species you name will be rare in that Reserve.
I will change my approach with respect to locations that have plenty of records in the high season. There is an interest from a climate change perspective at the beginning and the end of the season to keep recording even common species. For locations such as Mundoonen which are rarely visited by mappers I will keep popping them in as I find them.
I am more than happy to discuss this issue further and to take direction from management who have the best handle on the strategic priorities.

This is a really common moth - perhaps you don't need to post every one of this or other common moths like Culladia cuneiferellus and Faveria tritalis and concentrate on the more uncommon ones.
