Author's notes

I'm not sure if this is a tree, a shrub, a conifer . . ? Growing among eucalypts.

At this point I will go with Banksia spinulosa. The main difference between narrow leaved var. collina and var. spinulosa is that var. collina has a lignotuber (a rounded woody growth with food reserves at or below ground level) and var. spinulosa does not. Comment please.
