Would you be able to tell me whether this moss was growing on rock, wood or soil? The lower left of Photo 2 suggests rock, but from the photos I can't tell for sure.

This was growing on soil underneath leaves and under debris.
Up close it looks like grass, but from afar it looked like an oddly placed green patch.

The identification of this as a species of Campylopus is plausible and the genus is fairly common on soil in the local area, but the photos alone do not provide irrefutable proof.
