There's a good chance that this is Marchantia berteroana. A couple of photos shows circular gemma cups, without which you'd be left wondering if this was Marchantia or Lunularia (which has crescent-shaped gemma cups). In this colony there are still some green, discoid gemmae present. These are vegetative propagules and may be splashed out of the cups by raindrops, just as happens with the 'eggs' in Cyathus (http://canberranaturemap.org/Community/Sightings/Details/2726664).
