Misgurnus anguillicaudatus (Oriental Weatherloach)

Status: Introduced.

Size: Can grow up to 30.5cm.

Description: Thin cylindrical eel like body; green brown in colour mottled above and pale below with dark spot at the tail.  Covered in mucus and very slippery, 5 pairs of barbless on the mouth.  Rounded tail fin  sexes can be distinguished by the shape of the anal fin. 

Location: Slow silty habitats in the Murrumbidgee Catchment, Snowy and Canberra lakes.
