Pterolocera (genus) (Antheliid moth)

Caterpillars up to 6 cms, hairy, brown, no white tufts. Generally thought to feed on Grass. Hairs cause urticaria in sensitive people. Adult males various shades, vestigial patterns, prominent veins, wingspan up to 5 cms. Females of most species flightless.
