After four weeks, and staving off many interlopers (and I only know of noisy miners, SCCs, galahs and gang-gangs!), this pair successfully incubated and hatched some ducklings (total number unknown, but the pole camera post hatching indicates a relatively low number hatched - around 3-4?). For four weeks, mum stayed low and out of sight. Occasionally I could see her little tail bobbing around, I assume as she shifted the eggs. Then one morning, I noticed a male head sticking out of the hollow, and I suspected things were changing. Mum and dad were more active, flying in and out of the hollow. By 8.30 the next morning, all activity had ceased, and we believe the ducklings had left the nest. Interestingly, within an hour, two new ducks had arrived, and kicked things around internally, before flying off.
