Last night, I discovered mountains of down strewn across the path, and dribbling from the hollow mouth. It should not have been from a possum raiding a nest, as the tree was protected by a possum guard. This morning, I noticed gang-gang chips at the base of the hollow, and strongly suspect gang-gangs visited the hollow and emptied it of interloper duck-down. I looked up, and was surprised to see a female wood duck gazing back at me. She must be incubating? I wonder if the chicks will survive and leave the nest? Last year, kookaburras visited the hollow a lot, and I suspect it is still shallow, so ripe for the picking by kookaburras . . . (Tyrrell hollow)
