User's notes

Heard an unusual call this afternoon. The bird was in thicket with other species. Our resident birder couldn't get a clear view. He thought possibly a chestnut rumped heathwren when he played back some calls but was not preprared to vouch for that.

Or perhaps the tail is a small branch?

Doesn’t look very Heathwren like to me unfortunately. I’d be happy calling this a brown thornbill, and any unusual call could probably be put down to mimicry.

Thanks, @Liam m. Brown thornbills visit regularly. We'll keep an eye out anyway just in case.
