A new one for me (which isn't saying much), after the pup gently (!) brought her interesting finding inside to show us. The only other sightings on CNM are exactly five years ago, in this area. So - looks like we have a local population that has a five year life cycle?

Great observation! There are records on iNat from 2017 and 2024, and the first published record for Canberra was in 2016, which introduces some ambiguity.
