User's notes

While I was away, the wood ducks hatched. I'd set up the wildlife camera, but, of course, the SD card filled up just before the hatchings, which were due on 1st or 2nd of October. There was no sign of any egg shell or movement at the front of the hollow, but we are aware that the ducklings hatched and left the hollow - despite the depth of the climb out. To our surprise, there was a tiny hole in the trunk, just above the eggs, and it must have been that the ducklings squeezed their malleable bodies on their way into the world. We found a few shards of egg shell at the base of this unexpected hole. (@MichaleMulvaney)
