User's notes

Touring around this morning we noticed several wood ducks, quacking and honking, with pairs of ducks parked on old tree limbs everywhere, peering into hollows. Suddenly, to my astonishment, a female appeared out of Bee hollow! Then we heard the annoyed chatter of gang gangs, and a pair arrived at Bee hollow, landing on the spout. The female was identifiable - either Cheeky Rose (as she tried nesting here a couple of years ago), or Pinky (Tom 3). The female gang gang moved agitatedly along the top of the hollow, saw the duck appear, then flew at the duck, chasing her out of the hollow and to another tree. The male gang gang then flew to the spout of the hollow, and moved the male duck on to another trees. After another heart beat or two (I had to watch with my eyes rather than the camera lens), the pair of gang gangs actively chased the ducks from this tree to another tree much further away from Bee hollow. Protective gang gangs (and very early in the season)!
