As you have noticed, Eragrostis elongata is quite distinct in its colour and stands out from a lot of other grasses.

Thanks Matt, I see it is 'rare or uncommon' - ?? this was a TSR which was otherwise pretty weedy, but had great aquatic plants in the creek.

If silvery colour is distinctive for this species, then perhaps it could be featured in the Field Guide ?

Hi Jane. The grass is pretty rare in Canberra and uncommon in the region. It is very widespread, but I assume it's one of those species that typically occurs west of the Range. It may have come in with stock/hay assuming it doesn't naturally occur on the Tablelands, but I really have no idea.
I have also updated the field guide with a line of text regarding its colour.
