User's notes

This is the rust fungus Puccinia coprosmae found on Coprosma hirtella. Ref.D.McAlpine Rusts of Australia 1906 Dept of Agriculture Victoria. Description P165, Illustration Plate X fig 78. The teliospores shown in this sighting seem consistent with those in the McAlpine book. Teliospores were not obvious on the upper surface of the leaf but were instead on found associated with the brown lesion on the leaf underside. There is one previous report from the ACT by Petrak 1953, Ein kleiner Beitrag zur Kenntnis der Uredineen Australiens, Sydowia v7 p1-7. This species is also found on Coprosma in New Zealand.
