User's notes

As I walked past Baldy's original nest site from 2021-22, I heard GG calling and found a female sitting next to a known hollow. She appeared to be communicating with another bird, and from time to time there were sounds of vigorous excavation and wood chips came flying out. Eventually a luxuriantly crested male poked his head out and looked around before going back in. I watched for about 20 minutes and they were both still there, coming and going. Although this was definitely not Baldy, this is the hollow that he and his partner prepared, but abandoned, in 2022. Other GGs have also taken an interest in it, but the last occupant seen was a ring tail possum (sighting 4522573). One arm of the U-shaped branch arrangement has since broken off.
