looks very very cold- maybe the reason for being so dark- all blood flow to the chromatocytes in the skin limited, so less colour. at least this would be my guess

He was cold - tucked in the bonnet of the farm ute. I moved him to a more sheltered spot.

you are the best. very hard for them to find a new spot on their own as they are in a kind of shut down - not ready to move any great distance. Would be too costly at this stage to use up precious energy...
