My first confirmed sighting of Baldy since January. He and a female were investigating hollows in a tree not far from last season's hollow, and as I watched, trying to decide if it really was him, he flew to the old hollow and posed, just to confirm! They then both flew on to several other trees and chewed a bit of bark and looked into a few hollows. They eventually both took off and were joined by two other birds that I would like to think were their offspring, although they were too far away to see any details.

Thanks Cath very interesting observation and seems to fit with others that they do check out previously used nesting sites outside breeding season
