User's notes

Curious on the crayfish in these subalpine bogs. They seem to be common up here, many small holes on the edges of creeks and in the soaghnum. This area also supports a population of platypus.

The spiny crayfish known in this area are Euastacus rieki, Rieks Crayfish, which were recently listed as vulnerable nationally. Unfortunately the only way to distinguish them to species level is through internal characteristics. the other species in the ACT is to the north and there is a third in the tinderry area.
99% sure its E. Rieki.
