I believe this is an Austrostipa though I’m not matching it to any of species that occur locally. Very high up for it to be anything other than A.nivicola. About 15 plants in subalpine woodland under snow gums

I believe this is a Dichelachne as the awns appear subterminal rather than arising from the apex as in Austrostipa. Looking at the VICFlora entry for A. nivicola, the lemma should be slightly hairy rather than glabrous as in your plants, and the inflorescence looks more 'comb-like' (check out the images to get a bit of a feel for what I am trying to convey). I keyed this plant as Dichelachne inaequiglumis, but would like some good close ups with a ruler to be more confident.

Agree with Dichelachne, but in D inaequiglumis the lemma is longer than the glumes (doesn't appear to be here - could be wrong) and the awn arises within 0.5 mm of the lemma apex (looks more here). Agree, need some measurements to be confident of species.
