Thanks for this sighting - is the location correct? - The Goanna's of this area are subject to ongoing research and any record is of interest. Close-up photos of both sides of the head enable individual Goannas to be identified and give valuable information about movement and life span. Thanks again for contributing to the information on this species.

Michael - the location is correct, in future I will try for close up photos for either side of the head. Is this the best place to leave photos/sightings? My neighbours have also spotted numerous Rosenberg Goannas and I will share your post.

Sorry Nockels, the location is showing inside Namadgi National Park (look at the map in this record). Unless you pulled off the most massive swiftie, you dont have pavers (and a house?) inside the national park, way up on the Clear Range where it would be obvious to all.

Well spotted. Location is Lawler Rd Michelago NSW, on the other side of the river, I didn't zoom in so the map looked OK. Clearly the GPS is out a little bit.

Many thanks Nockels for the correct location. I only just realised that the black thing in your second photo is a dog (well the snout of a dog anyway). I'm interested in the lack of fight or flight response by the goanna. Is that a fair comment? And could I use your photo please for talks or reports etc.?

DonFletcher - happy for you to show the photo (with Dexter's snout!). You are correct, despite large amounts of barking and circling by the dog (Dexter - a male kelpie cross) of the goanna simply stood still. The barking alerted me and when I arrived on scene the goanna simply stood still as I walked around it also. When I removed the dog the goanna walked away quite slowly, completely undeterred.
