User's notes

Multiple weevils congregated in the rosettes of young thistles (specifically Onopordum acanthium). I assume a bio-control species.

Deliberately introduced to Australia as a control agent against thistles of the genus Onopordum. Larvae hollow out the capitulum (the cluster of small flowers or florets which make up the thistle flower) - Good on their little souls

Of the thistles, Onopordum is one that I see very infrequently. I suppose that might be due to the hard work of these weevils.
