Found in the Koala Path area of Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve near mountain creek. Photograph taken by Micheal from my Fauna class. Identified using A Photographic Guide to Snakes & Other Reptiles Of Australia (Gerry Swan, The Australian Museum).

Thanks for your photo and for having a go at identifying the water skink. The nearest populations of E. quoyii are in coastal regions to the east of the ACT. Your photo is of an E. heatwolei (yellow-bellied water skink), a species found commonly at Tidbinbilla. The pale golden coloured stripe along the outer edge of the head and back body looks pronounced in the photo but I think it looks that way because of reflected light.
