This pair stopped for a close look at potential hollows in this old dead gum (popular also with sulphur cresteds) before flying off to continue surveying the surrounding woodland. This or another pair had been heard off and on for the preceding few hours from various parts of the adjacent woodland.
Did I hear you ask "what pair". Bottom left of image 2 and image 3 shows the male, who chose a fraction of a second before I clicked the shutter to swoop off to the next prospective site. His mate followed as I prepared to take a closer shot of her.
