Thanks Cath - I wonder where this pair is from - and I am surprised that one Hawthorn survives given the excellent job of the Aranda parkcare's in transforming a Hawthorn gully back to natural bush

Hi @MichaelMulvaney. This tree was in the Cook horse paddocks, neither Aranda nor Mt Painter territory. There seem to be quite a few gang gangs around the area at the moment.
