Was this marked as Hedera helix?? There are around 10 species within the genus hedera, with h.helix being the most common, it is prohibited from sale in the ACT following the Pest Plants and Animals (Pest Plants) Declaration 2015 (No 1), see https://www.legislation.act.gov.au/View/di/2015-59/current/html/2015-59.html If it isn't English ivy not much that can be done.
Well yes that is precisely my point " Prohibited from Sale" just like the Honeysuckle Plants that I posted recently, also on sale at EPIC Farmer's Market. What is the point of Having Bio-Security regulations when they are so openly Not Adhered to in Public Points of Sale ? I believe it is a variety of English Ivy here.
Very frustrating I agree, perhaps someone should email parks and conservation, with some photos of any suspicious plants. But growers can get past restrictions by marketing plants under a different name Lonicera Americana for example, as opposed to the banned Lonicera japonica (not the same plant obviously, but i would assume they are similar). If its not to much trouble i would alert the parkies......
