User's notes

I heard calling then saw a female land on an old stump and start investigating. A short time later a male arrived and watched from the top (image 2) before flying to a branch of a neighbouring tree where he started chewing branches (main image). She then entered the hollow and started making scraping noises. He flew across and entered the hollow and they then took it in turns to go in and work while the other watched. The male looked either damaged or diseased and was missing his crest. I watched them for about 20 minutes and again the next day.
