Philenora irregularis and aspectelella are similar species, and the ACT present species is P. irregularis. Its central band across the forewing has more colour in it, and is slanted a little inwards costa to inner margin, compared with P. aspectalella. BOLD photos illustrate this.
Lucas remarks, in describing Philenora irregularis, that the species is similar to Philenora aspectalella, but is larger and has a more oblique pattern.
