User's notes

At first sight, thought it was a mating pair until they untangled themselves and it was a dining pair. Starting to show breeding colours

An interesting photograph. The two individuals doing the biting (with the first flush of breeding colour showing) are males - it could be that the third individual is also a male. Mating takes place in autumn in this species (P. entrecasteauxii) so the third individual is most likely also a male. They are exhibiting territorial behaviour, but unusually it is two on one. They seem to recover from these quite aggressive encounters.
