User's notes

Just wondering if anyone can identify scats? This was on the Lyrebird Trail Tidbinbilla

It is a canid scat (i.e. fox, pet dog or dingo). Scat content influences the decision between pet dog and wild but this is hard to tell because of the white (calcium rich?) content. Scat diameter (and total volume in some cases) helps the fox V dog decision. (Smell too but unsafe to do because of hydatid eggs). Guessing the scale from the Poa(?) tussock, I think dog, and because owned dogs are uncommon at Tidbinbilla, this is very likely a Dingo Canis dingo (no longer Canis lupus). Baits are laid ~quarterly in Tidbinbilla for dingoes to protect sheep on Tidbinbilla Station, Congwarra and nearby rural properties.
