Was on the ground with the prey when I arrived home and got out of the car in my driveway, it was startled and flew to a nearby tree, where this photo was taken. Not certain of the ID, but that heavy brow makes me think it is more likely to be a Brown Goshawk than Collared Sparrowhawk. Happy to be corrected if any other details show otherwise. Size indicated that if a BG then a male, and if CS then a female.

Just when I think I have finally got my head around raptors! ;) I agree with everything you've said Matthew. I also think more likely male BG. Over to the other moderators...
