Significant sighting

MichaelMulvaney noted:

6 Jan 2020

one of a few confirmed breeding events recorded of Gang Gangs at Botanic Gardens

User's notes

First time I have seen the nestling at this hollow. Parents were sitting quietly in trees about 30m away. The nestling's eyes appeared a bit swollen?

Thanks Michael, I didn't realise they hadn't been recorded breeding here before!

There are no ACT Government records of confirmed nesting other than this one - would like to have any others in any year reported - confirmed means chicks observed in hollow - not just male and female birds entering hollow.

Sorry I have short changed the ANBG. There was a definite breeding event in the2014-2015 season, and as part of this years survey the Friends of Botanic Gardens have evidence of Gang Gang young emerging from two other nests in the ANBG this season. There are also two records from 2017-2018 that we are seeking clarification on. So there is even better news re Gang Gangs from ANBG.
