It is not surprising that they are being seen more widely elsewhere, considering the state of the reedbeds at J Wetlands (very little left). On visits to the wetlands this year I have seen no more than about 4, sometimes only 1-2.

Interestingly though, there are plenty of crakes there. In the last week I have seen 1 Spotless and numerous Australian Spotted and also a Buff-banded Rail. Seem to be enjoying the mudflats and don't mind about the absence of reeds.
