Great photo. Is it just the lighting, or is that a rufous individual on the right hand side???

I think you're right - I've added a third photo showing the rufous individual from a different angle. Definitely contrasts with the others.

Throughout their range, there are many plumage variations, including a rufous form, however I am unaware of any previous records of rufous individuals in the Canberra region. Interesting sighting.

According to Morcombe, Rufous and Chestnut birds if you're lucky enough to see one are always females.
