User's notes

I heard a very loud “whoosh,” very close over my head, and a goshawk swooped low over me with another goshawk just off to its side. The birds flew into a tree in front of me, with the swooping bird calling continuously. I thought I could use some of the trees to shelter me from the swooping but a goshawk came in very close. I was happy enough with my photos so I left the area.

Excellent photos showing the rounded tail, diagnostic of Brown Goshawk.

Great photos. And here was I, taking it personally when the same bird followed me hundreds of metres (I'll post tonight).

Be careful near their nests. They can get REALLY grumpy as you found out. Big talons! ;)

Many thanks all for the wonderful comments.
NatureGuy - Many thanks for the confirmation
LisaH - I suspect you and I will not be getting Xmas cards from the Goshawk family
Illianga - Thanks for the warning, I wish my lens was longer so I could be further away
