Male spent 1-2 minutes in the hollow, and then started removing leaves from part of the hollow. The pair spent about 15 minutes at the hollow before flying off.
Thanks You Helen, we will shortly be asking for help for people to adopt one or more of 70 likely nesting trees identified last year and to make regular observations during spring and summer. This was not one of the trees identified but seems worth adding to the list.
OK, I saw a pair at this hollow last year as well (thought I'd recorded it?) although they obviously didn't end up nesting. Fingers crossed for this year!
Yes to be a likely nesting hollow birds had to be seen entering a hollow on multiple occasions. We actually got 313 sightings of which we think 70 are worth further checking - including a few other trees in the Botanic Gardens
